AtkinsRéalis is seeking a HVAC and Building Services Engineering Intern to join our Exton, PA office. AtkinsRéalis is one of the world’s most respected design, engineering, and project management consultancies. AtkinsRéalis has been providing infrastructure planning, engineering, construction, environmental consulting, urban planning, architecture, and program management services to public and private clients across the United States for more than 50 years. Our office in Exton, PA is responsible for managing design projects including mechanical, electrical, plumbing / fire protection, and process disciplines within industrial, biotech, pharmaceutical, chemical and food industries. We are a team of multi-discipline engineers and designers who work together in collaboration on new building and upgrades to existing facilities. Our Internship Program, Explore, is designed for college students pursuing a degree in a STEM field and provides opportunities to learn what it’s like to work in a professional environment and apply what’s learned in class to the real-world challenges we face every day.

  • Perform basic drafting in 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D (Revit) to acquire the necessary CAD skills and applicable software knowledge to support the technical services of the company.
  • Acquire knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection systems.
  • Develop familiarity with CAD software and related equipment and procedures.
  • Enter basic data, as instructed, such as measurements and commands, to generate construction drawings, renderings, report graphics and other digital images.
  • Edit existing designs, following detailed instructions.
  • Make minor mathematical calculations.
  • Check drawings to verify completeness, clarity, and accuracy, and present to supervisor for review.
  • Take on-line software training programs and read manuals and other instructional materials to develop familiarity with CAD products and company/departmental procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation of graphic displays and presentation materials.
  • Perform such other duties as the Supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.
  • Project site visits to assist Engineer with surveys.
  • Provide administrative and operations support.
  • Complete Quality Management Training and comply with the program upholding a commitment to a culture of quality in all aspects of work.
  • Enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
  • No experience is generally required.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Capable of developing technical writing.
  • Good communications skills.
  • Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency.
  • AutoCAD or Revit is a plus.
  • Carrier HAP or Trane Trace, Bluebeam, Navisworks is a plus.
