About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting the day-to-day husbandry operations in the Aquarium. Primary responsibilities include the assisting with care and wellbeing of all animals under the facility’s care; assisting in maintenance of all habitats; and positive team approach within the Life Sciences Department.

Due to the seasonal nature of the industry, team members may be required to work varying schedules, weekends, holidays and overtime to reflect the business needs of the property.
Team members may also be required to attend group and/or department meetings in addition to the work shift, as necessary.

Responsibilities

Clean, maintain, and repair animal habitats.
Clean and maintain Life Sciences areas.
Assist with diet preparation and feeding of animals.
Observe and communicate any animal health concerns.
Care for, handle, and work safely with a variety of live animals, including mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates.
Provide superior guest interactions.
Maintain up-to-date electronic and hard-copy records on animal husbandry and maintenance, as necessary.
Maintain collaborative relationships with Guest Experience Department and the Aquarium Foundation.
Maintain positive and professional representation of animals, life sciences department, and institution.
Compliance with health and safety standards in accordance with local municipality, state and federal rules and regulations.
Compliance of all policy and procedures.
Assist in emergency situations to minimize damage, loss or injury to guests, team members, animals or company property.
Other duties as assigned.
