About The Position

The Human Trafficking Victim Service Coordinator position at the North Carolina Commission and Conferences is a full-time role dedicated to providing essential legal and victim support services to individuals affected by human trafficking and other crimes. This position involves working closely with victims, law enforcement, and community organizations to ensure that victims receive the necessary resources, advocacy, and emotional support throughout the legal process. The coordinator will also assist the Human Trafficking Resource Prosecutor in preparing legal documents and managing case files, contributing to the prosecution of critical cases and helping to restore hope and stability for victims.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least two years of legal secretarial experience.
  • Knowledge of court systems, legal terminology, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with community resources available for victim support and recovery.
  • Skill in using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to type efficiently and accurately (35-40 WPM).
  • Experience managing multi-line telephone systems and providing excellent customer service.
  • Ability to elicit information from victims and witnesses to provide tailored services.
  • Ability to coordinate daily operations for victim and witness programs.
  • Effective communication skills with individuals from diverse backgrounds, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to build lasting, collaborative relationships with law enforcement, agency officials, and the public.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in a District Attorney's Office or a victim services organization.
  • A background in victim advocacy, particularly with human trafficking or other special victim cases.
  • Experience coordinating services across multiple agencies or organizations to assist victims.

Responsibilities

  • Support and advocate for victims and witnesses, helping them navigate the court process.
  • Assist victims in accessing critical resources such as counseling, housing, immigration assistance, medical care, and employment support.
  • Provide emotional support to victims and ensure they feel empowered for court appearances.
  • Draft correspondence and prepare legal documents with precision and attention to detail.
  • Organize case files, gather essential information, and provide research to assist in prosecutions.
  • Manage schedules and ensure smooth coordination for court appearances and victim services.
  • Participate in specialized training to deepen expertise in human trafficking cases and victim advocacy.
  • Support training programs, victim assistance initiatives, and deployments as needed.
  • Build strong relationships with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community organizations to ensure seamless support for victims.
  • Handle inquiries from victims, witnesses, and the public with empathy and professionalism.
