About The Position

The successful Human Services Program Supervisor will have oversight for a team of seven Human Services Program Consultants and must live in the South Central region of the state or contiguous to the following counties: Cumberland The successful applicant will supervise the Consultants who are responsible for licensing child care centers and homes, to achieve and maintain compliance with applicable child care licensing requirements, and investigate reports alleging violations of requirements, including allegations that facilities are operating without a license. The Program Supervisor will manage child care requirements interpretations, reviews and communicate new Regulatory Section initiatives, policies and procedures. In this position, the Program Supervisor will support child care consultant teams by providing consistent training, remediation, and modeling according to an established development plan. Program Supervisors work out of their homes and must be able to plan and manage their work independently. The successful applicant must be skilled in handling difficult people in highly stressful situations while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor. Individual must have experience using computer software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel as those applications are used in completing work. The Program Supervisors’ work involves close coordination with the Regulatory Services Assistant Director, Senior Managers and other Unit Managers; other Division staff, including the Director’s office; the Administrative and Program Operations Section; DENR; and the Attorney General’s office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in child development, early childhood education, special education, social work, or related human services area from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience in a child care or related setting involving the coordination, evaluation, or administration of a comprehensive program of child care services; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrates knowledge of theories, practices and principles of child development as related to child care services that include the physical, social, emotional and cognitive development of children. This employee must be knowledgeable of current issues at the state and national level affecting child care.
  • At least two years of experience in a child care or related setting involving the coordination, evaluation, or administration of a comprehensive program of child care services, or coordination/management of the child care component of a local social services program, or as an instructor or curriculum design specialist at the university or community college level.
  • At least two years of experienced in providing technical assistance and consultation in the areas of child care program administration and child development, health and safety, care-giving activities, nutrition, behavior management, prevention of child abuse/neglect, age-appropriate needs of children, parent involvement, and parent education to promote quality child care.
  • At least two years of experience in supervising professional level staff and projects is essential for this position.
