About The Position
Adjunct positions are an "Open Pool" for the upcoming Spring 2026 semester. There may or may not be available openings at this time, however, when an opening does occur, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants we have on file on an as needed basis. Adjunct Instructor positions are part-time, semester-to-semester, non-benefitted MCCC/MTA/DCE unit positions. The Human Services Department seeks an adjunct faculty member to teach Introduction to Addiction Studies, an entry-level course exploring the evolution of addiction treatment and recovery in the United States. The course examines changing social, cultural, and professional perspectives on addiction, treatment, and recovery, and encourages students to reflect on their own beliefs and schemas related to these topics.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Human Services, or closely related field.
- Demonstrated successful experience working with people from diverse social and cultural backgrounds, with a range of academic abilities.
- Demonstrated commitment to the community college mission.
Nice To Haves
- Graduate degree in Human Services, Addiction Studies, Psychology, Social Work, or a closely related field.
- Professional or teaching experience in addiction counseling or recovery services.
- Commitment to inclusive, student-centered teaching practices.
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in and outside of the classroom.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver engaging instruction aligned with departmental outcomes.
- Facilitate discussion, critical thinking, and application of course concepts.
- Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback.
- Maintain appropriate course records and meet institutional expectations.
- Provide student assistance in-person and/or by virtual appointment.
- Attend a limited number of faculty meetings.
