Administration of Human Resource Programs

The Human Resources Technician position within the County's Health Department offers an opportunity to provide direct HR support to nearly 700 employees across various sectors, including Behavioral Health, Public Health, and Animal Services. This role involves key administrative and paraprofessional duties, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the HR team. The position may be filled at either the Technician I or II level, depending on the candidate's relevant experience.

  • Assist in posting job openings, screening applicants, and coordinating interviews to ensure a seamless recruitment process.
  • Prepare and process sensitive personnel documents such as new hire paperwork, promotions, transfers, and terminations, ensuring confidentiality.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including data entry in NEOGOV and SAP.
  • Support the administration of benefits, including open enrollment, leave management, and answering employee inquiries.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to employees, applicants, and stakeholders, ensuring a positive experience.
  • Assist with various HR projects and initiatives as needed, contributing to continuous process improvement.
  • Completion of one year (30 semester units or 45 quarter units) of college-level coursework in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field; or one year of experience in human resource management related work.
  • For HR Technician II: Completion of two years (60 semester units or 90 quarter units) of college-level coursework in a related field; or two years of experience in human resource management related work; or one year of experience in the Human Resources Technician I class.
  • Previous HR or administrative experience is a plus.
