About The Position

Weiner Law, a San Diego–based law firm with approximately 30 employees (including 10 attorneys), is seeking a part-time Human Resources Manager to provide ongoing HR support on an hourly, as-needed basis. This role is ideal for an experienced HR professional who is highly knowledgeable about California employment law and comfortable working independently in a small professional-services environment. The HR Manager will serve as the firm’s primary HR point of contact, handling employee relations, hiring and separation processes, and employee questions related to policies, benefits, and compliance. The position is fully remote , but candidates must be located in California .

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary HR contact for employees and firm leadership
  • Manage and advise on employee lifecycle matters, including: Hiring and onboarding Employee discipline, performance issues, and terminations
  • Respond to employee questions regarding: Employee handbook and firm policies PTO, leave of absence, and benefits General HR and employment-related inquiries
  • Ensure compliance with California and federal employment laws
  • Maintain and update the employee handbook and HR policies as needed
  • Provide guidance to management on best practices for employee relations and risk mitigation
  • Coordinate with payroll providers or external vendors as needed and process payroll
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records
