The Human Resources Specialist ensures the fair and consistent application of laws, regulations, county policies, and union contracts within the Sheriff's Office. This position is responsible for monitoring compliance with state and federal requirements for law enforcement staff, maintaining accurate records for audits, recording, and managing training and certification records, and coordinating employee onboarding and training needs. As a subject matter expert in human resources, this role provides support for recruitment and selection processes, manages HRIS systems and employment transactions, maintains personnel files, oversees general employee relations, performance management, disciplinary actions, and policy administration. This position operates under a dual reporting structure, working under the direction of both the Chief Deputy and the Human Resources Director. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, professional, and capable of handling confidential information with integrity.
