About the position

Under the general direction of the Director for Employment Support, the Human Resources Employment Support Specialist II performs specialized human resources management work. Responsible for researching, developing, implementing, and executing effective recruiting and staffing strategies to attract a pool of qualified and capable talent for the university and onboards new hires. Sources, identifies, screens, and hires individuals for various roles in the university. Effectively administers the interviewing and onboarding process and ensures a positive new hire experience. Work involves administering human resources management programs and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. The Human Resources Specialist II will be expected to exhibit a specialized level of expertise and understanding of faculty and staff processes to promote optimal customer satisfaction. No visa sponsorship is available for this role. Position may require work responsibilities outside of normal business hours. Hybrid work options may be available following successful completion of training requisites. Must have the ability to work remotely at the request of the university in times of inclement weather or other special circumstances.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies the hiring needs and ensures the staffing needs of the university are being met.
  • Schedules recruitment plan meetings with hiring managers to assess departmental and position related needs.
  • Prepares job descriptions by reviewing position details and consulting with the human resources team.
  • Devises recruitment strategy and implements sourcing strategies to build pipelines of potential applicants.
  • Collaborates and trains hiring managers to ensure adherence with recruiting processes.
  • Determines selection criteria for candidates by liaising with hiring managers.
  • Places and updates job postings in various media.
  • Conducts regular follow-up with managers to determine the effectiveness of recruiting efforts.
  • Creates and implements end-to-end candidate hiring processes.
  • Screens and shortlists candidates by reviewing resumes and conducting phone screens.
  • Coordinates interviews schedules and may conduct/participate in candidate interviews.
  • Evaluates and makes the offer by arranging pre-employment processes and creating offer letters.
  • Conducts and/or supports new employee onboarding.
  • Gathers records of all materials used for recruitment.
  • Represents the university at recruiting events.
  • Continuously develops networks/partnerships to actively build a database of candidates.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Two years of related or transferable experience.
  • Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with good negotiation tactics.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with social media, C.V. databases, and professional networks.
  • Proficient in reading, interpreting, and verifying data in multiple formats.
  • Innovative, problem solver and self-motivated.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Proficiency in documenting processes and keeping up with industry trends.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Familiarity with laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to hiring and recruitment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in Applicant Tracking Systems or the ability to quickly learn applicant-tracking software.
  • A keen understanding of the requirements for each role in the university.
  • Experience with full-cycle recruiting, using various interview techniques and evaluation methods.
  • Ability to devise and implement sourcing strategies for recruitment for a variety of roles.
  • Experience in using recruiting platforms to proactively source candidates.
  • Prior experience in Human Resources with a focus on talent acquisition.
