About the position

The Human Resources School Partner will report directly to the Executive Director of Human Resources and will have the following key responsibilities: School-Based HR Support & Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition & Vacancy Management, Onboarding, Orientation & Licensure, Labor Relations, College & Community Partnerships, HR Data & Process Improvement, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)/Accountability Office. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary to meet the evolving needs of the schools, district and HR office.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary HR liaison for school principals and leadership teams, offering guidance on personnel issues and human resources policies.
  • Support school leaders in addressing employee performance, conflict resolution, and compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Assist with investigations, documentation, and legal counsel, when necessary.
  • Act as a Title IX Investigator.
  • Collaborate with school leaders to forecast staffing needs and oversee vacancy postings in alignment with district and union guidelines.
  • Monitor applicant tracking system data to ensure timely hiring and onboarding processes.
  • Advise schools on equitable and inclusive hiring practices, contributing to a diverse and effective workforce.
  • Coordinate onboarding and orientation processes for new hires, ensuring a welcoming and efficient transition into CPS.
  • Monitor DESE licensure requirements and support staff and principals in meeting certification and assignment compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of onboarding and licensure status.
  • Ensure HR operations align with all applicable collective bargaining agreements.
  • Track deadlines related to evaluations, probationary periods, and staffing assignments.
  • Support resolution of grievances and contractual concerns in collaboration with the HR leadership team.
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with local colleges and universities to promote educator pipeline programs, including internships, practicums, and paraprofessional-to-teacher pathways.
  • Coordinate career pathway programming in alignment with district workforce development and DEI goals.
  • Maintain personnel data systems (PeopleSoft, TeachPoint, TalentEd) with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Generate reports and insights to inform staffing decisions and identify gaps or trends.
  • Collaborate with departments to streamline workflows and support continuous improvement.
  • Partner with the Office of Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging to ensure equitable practices are embedded in all school-based HR work.
  • Support recruitment and retention efforts that promote a diverse, culturally responsive workforce.
  • Partner with the Office of Accountability to ensure compliance with the educator evaluation process and system.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in HR, including employee relations and staffing support.
  • Knowledge of labor relations, collective bargaining agreements, and public sector HR operations.
  • Strong interpersonal, coaching, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to equity, anti-racism, and culturally responsive practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a public K-12 school district or urban education setting.
  • Familiarity with Massachusetts DESE licensure requirements.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills.
