The Human Resources Representative at Ocean County College is responsible for providing customer service and technical support to employees and the Human Resources department. This role involves executing a variety of routine and confidential tasks that require a solid understanding of college-wide policies and procedures, with a focus on enhancing the employee experience through detail-oriented and solutions-driven approaches.

  • Serves as point of contact for employees and managers to assist with general inquiries and technical assistance related to HR technologies and benefits.
  • Remains current on required technology platforms and adapts to changes as necessary, recommending process improvements as appropriate.
  • Responds to inquiries and provides guidance to employees and managers regarding college policies, procedures, handbooks, and bargaining unit contracts.
  • Supports daily Human Resources department operations by performing a variety of confidential HR functions, including form I9 processing and onboarding/offboarding support.
  • Coordinates and distributes recurring college-wide HR communications, including broadcasts and direct email campaigns.
  • Maintains the HRIS system for onboarding and offboarding tasks, ensuring employee completion and compliance.
  • Completes employment verifications as needed, including wage audits and Public Service Loan Forgiveness applications.
  • Assists with the hiring/processing of designated college personnel, volunteers, and/or embedded instructors.
  • Assists with training session and workshop preparation, including reserving rooms and managing correspondence.
  • Serves as the backup to the Human Resources Assistant as needed.
  • Associates Degree in Business, Communications, Computer Science/Technology, or closely related discipline, or a high school diploma with two years of related experience.
  • At least three years of directly related experience in customer service.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential personnel matters.
  • Prior experience working in a higher education or public sector environment.
  • Familiarity with NJ State benefits and pension programs.
  • Knowledge of NJ and federal employment laws and regulations.
  • Familiarity with Human Resources technology, such as HRIS or ATS.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
