About The Position

The Human Resources Representative provides customer service and technical support to Ocean County College employees and the Human Resources department. This role involves executing a variety of routine and confidential tasks that require a solid understanding of college-wide policies and procedures, with a focus on delivering an outstanding employee experience.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Business, Communications, Computer Science/Technology, or a closely related discipline, or a high school diploma with two years of related experience.
  • At least three years of directly related experience in customer service.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential personnel matters.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a higher education or public sector environment.
  • Familiarity with NJ State benefits and pension programs.
  • Knowledge of NJ and federal employment laws and regulations.
  • Familiarity with Human Resources technology such as HRIS or ATS.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the point of contact for employees and managers for general inquiries and technical assistance related to HR technologies and benefits.
  • Stay current on required technology platforms and adapt to changes as necessary.
  • Recommend process improvements and incorporate feedback while leveraging new technology.
  • Respond to inquiries and provide guidance regarding college policies, procedures, handbooks, and bargaining unit contracts.
  • Elevate non-routine inquiries to the supervisor or appropriate HR team member.
  • Support daily HR department operations by performing confidential HR functions such as I9 processing, front desk assistance, onboarding/offboarding support, COBRA processing, and open enrollment needs.
  • Coordinate and distribute college-wide HR communications, including broadcasts and direct email campaigns.
  • Maintain the HRIS system for onboarding and offboarding tasks and manage overdue or pending tasks.
  • Complete employment verifications including wage audits and Public Service Loan Forgiveness applications.
  • Assist with the hiring and processing of designated college personnel, volunteers, and embedded instructors.
  • Assist with training session and workshop preparation, including reserving rooms and managing correspondence.
  • Serve as backup to the Human Resources Assistant as needed.
