The Human Resources Representative at Naval Base San Diego plays a crucial role in supporting the Navy Exchange Service Command by providing administrative support in recruiting, processing personnel actions, conducting orientation training, and managing performance appraisals. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year of general office clerical experience demonstrating the ability to perform clerical duties satisfactorily.
  • 1 year of specialized experience in personnel disciplines such as staffing, benefits, or compensation.
  • Writing skills in English at a mid-level proficiency.
  • Typing and clerical experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in conducting orientation training and exit interviews.
  • Familiarity with automated personnel systems and databases.
  • Knowledge of personnel policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties in connection with recruiting applicants for nonexempt/exempt positions.
  • Review requisitions submitted and prepare vacancy announcements.
  • Place appropriate advertisements in local newspapers and contact schools as necessary.
  • Screen applications received and review personnel jackets to determine eligible employees based on minimum qualification requirements.
  • Prepare and process all types of personnel actions using the automated personnel system/database.
  • Conduct orientation sessions for new associates to familiarize them with basic personnel policies and associate benefits.
  • Conduct exit interviews for separated associates.
  • Administer the annual work performance appraisal program and prepare required reports.
  • Provide clerical support in conducting annual area wage surveys and compile statistical data for reports.
  • Research records when gathering required data and coordinate with managers as necessary.
  • Prepare and type letters of notification based on rights determined by supervisors.
  • Implement the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) sponsorship program for pertinent applicants.
  • Complete processing following established procedures and maintain correspondence in personnel jackets of employees.
  • Process worker's compensation claims as necessary and coordinate travel arrangements for Navy Exchange personnel.
