About The Position

The Human Resources Officer, Employment Practices at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is responsible for developing and updating the Staff Handbook, coordinating policy updates, and advising on legal and procedural matters related to employee relations. This role focuses on improving clarity in policies, managing employee inquiries, and ensuring compliance with employment practices.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in law (e.g., J.D, LLM) or a bachelor's degree in law with a minimum of six years of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong legal and analytical skills to identify issues or problems independently.
  • Ability to focus on operational excellence and suggest improvements to procedures and policies.
  • In-depth knowledge of technology, business processes, or platforms relevant to the role.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and updates the Staff Handbook based on input from subject matter experts and legal teams.
  • Maintains a master version of the Handbook, consolidating all proposed policy changes and interpretations.
  • Tracks all previous versions and changes to maintain version control and historical records.
  • Leads the periodic publication of the Handbook and develops materials to inform stakeholders of changes.
  • Catalogues and monitors Staff Handbook policies, identifying outdated policies and synthesizing topic areas.
  • Liaises with HR Operations to facilitate knowledge transfer and inform employees of policy changes.
  • Manages inquiries related to the Separation Benefit Fund, serving as the primary contact for staff members.
  • Prepares detailed Separation Benefit Fund scenarios and agreements for review as needed.
  • Proactively seeks feedback from stakeholders to assess policy effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develops materials to advise on performance management policies and related procedures.
  • Advises on administrative reviews of employment decisions and disciplinary processes.
  • Partners with the Legal Department and Dispute Resolution System colleagues as necessary.
  • Leads or assists in arranging mediation and negotiating settlements of disputes.
