About The Position

McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams is seeking a Human Resources Manager to serve as the primary internal HR leader for our manufacturing facility and nine retail scoop shops. This role is responsible for employee relations, compliance, and consistent HR practices across the company while supporting McConnell’s culture and growth. This is a hands-on role for an experienced HR professional who can operate independently, manage California compliance in a manufacturing and retail environment, and provide trusted guidance to managers and employees.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business, or a related field
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in HR, preferably in manufacturing, retail, or other hourly-workforce environments
  • Experience with California employment laws, wage and hour compliance, and employee relations
  • Comfortable using HR, payroll, and benefits systems along with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary internal point of contact for all HR matters
  • Ensure compliance with California and federal employment laws and recordkeeping
  • Manage employee relations, including coaching, performance management, discipline, investigations, and terminations
  • Oversee recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and offboarding for manufacturing and retail employees
  • Maintain employee handbooks, policies, and training materials and ensure they remain current
  • Coordinate HR administration related to payroll, benefits, and workers’ compensation with external providers
  • Manage benefits enrollment, renewals, and employee communications in coordination with brokers
  • Oversee workers’ compensation, leaves of absence, and return-to-work processes
  • Maintain accurate and complete personnel files and HR documentation
  • Develop and administer training programs to support compliance, safety, and employee development
  • Partner with managers to strengthen employee engagement, communication, and performance
