About The Position

This position is responsible for the planning and oversight of all human resource activities to include recruitment, employment benefits, performance evaluations, policies, compliance, training, employee relations, employee events, risk management and communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human resource or related field from a 4-year college or university.
  • Experience in Human Resources preferably in a government/ nonprofit setting preferred.
  • Strong experience in human resources management.
  • Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize diversified workload.
  • Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential information. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
  • Must have good knowledge of Microsoft Office: work requires attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to organize and maintain various records and projects.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle and prioritize multiple, competing tasks and demands and to seek supervisory assistance as appropriate.
  • Ability to present ideas to senior managers and board of directors in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
  • Must be a self starter and willing lead by example within the administrative team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead talent management operations: Maintain job descriptions. Conduct recruitment effort for all personnel from the hiring process including pre - employment checks to new hire paperwork/orientation to exit interviews.
  • Support compensation and benefits provision for employees: Assist in Human Resource decisions such as pay increases, evaluations, job openings; discipline, employee benefits and other related issues. Assist in retirement enrollments and reporting monthly.
  • Manage and administer benefits plans in collaboration with finance as part of the biweekly payroll process. This includes calculating withholding amounts, paying vendor invoices, meeting with vendors/brokers, setting up plans, managing open enrollment periods and employee questions related to their benefits.
  • Manage employee wellness plan to include oversight of the Wellness Committee and Wellness Fairs.
  • Support training and professional development for employees: Create professional development opportunities for staff as needed. Recommend, evaluate and participate in staff development for agency. Assist with planning of employee-related events.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations related to workplace safety, personnel and human resources: Establish and maintain employee files and confidentiality of those files. Create aligned and consistent employee relations procedures for the agency. Ensure policies are understood and adhered to by NKADD personnel. Ensure EEO standards and provide training as required.
  • Coordinate with Executive Director and Director of Finance and Administration on agency insurance plans, specifically those related to personnel and HR such as workers compensation and unemployment.
  • Serve as the point person for employment verifications, unemployment insurance and worker's compensation claims.
  • Attend training and other activities to stay informed on HR issues
  • This position is ultimately responsible for administrative and office management functions for the agency. This position is expected to ensure coverage by assigned staff of front reception and phones and other administrative functions.
