The Evergreen Packaging Athens Carton Converting Facility is located in Athens, Georgia, which is also home to the University of Georgia and is approximately an hour from the city of Atlanta and its cosmopolitan amenities. Opened in 1951 and employing 163 team members, the facility ships over two billion gable top cartons annually. Athens produces and die cuts refrigerated gable top cartons for a variety of global brands found in retail groceries throughout the US.   • Support plant management.
  • Serve as primary resource in all HR Policy/Administration matters.
  • Manage the functions of performance management, communications, training, organizational development, salaried and hourly recruiting, absentee control, benefits administration, Workers' Compensation and EEO/affirmative action.
  • Support union/management relationships and workplace culture.
  • Perform other Human Resource duties as required.
  • Develop and maintain a union/management relationship of trust promoting candor and problem solving.
  • Administer the interpretation of the labor agreement, monitor and participate in grievance handling and participate in union/management meetings.
  • Provide guidance and support in the day to day interpretation and application of labor agreement.
  • Advise line management of appropriate disciplinary measures and ensure that disciplinary action is administered consistently.
  • Serve as member of company negotiation team.
  • Collect and analyze information pertinent to the preparation of contract negotiations and make recommendations on contract issues.
  • Assist in the preparation of arbitration hearings.
  • Prepare and submit the required personnel requisitions and initiate and prepare Employee Action Forms.
  • Provide leadership and guidance in performance management.
  • Assist in the coordination of plant training and development activities.
  • Administer all benefit plans including medical, dental, life insurance, disability, workers' compensation, retirement, unemployment compensation, employee assistance, educational assistance and service awards.
  • Manage the recruiting, interviewing and hiring efforts for the salaried and hourly workforce.
  • Manage hourly job bidding and line of progression promotions.
  • Ensure and maintain compliance with all local, state and federal agencies regarding Workers' Compensation.
  • Act as EEO Coordinator handling EEO issues and preparing the annual Affirmative Action Plan.
  • Manage the efforts of the absentee control program.
  • Monitor all personnel, employment and labor programs for compliance with applicable laws.
  • Responsible for maintaining compliance with Corporate Record Retention Program.
  • Ensure that all requirements of SQF Code are being administered.
  • High School diploma + some college needed as minimum requirement.
  • B.S. degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or similar major highly desired.
  • 4+ years' progressive experience in Human Resources.
