Requirements

  • At least 4 years of prior Human Resources experience, preferably to have included responsibility for Talent acquisition and Employee Relations.
  • A four-year degree in business administration, management, personnel management, accounting, or a related field from a recognized college or university preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, memos and other correspondence.
  • Ability to write correspondence in a clear and professional way.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units of measure, including but not limited to, whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to carry out written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to effectively respond to employee problems or complaints.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct and coordinate human resource management activities to maximize the strategic use of human resources and maintain functions such as recruitment, conflict management, personnel policies, and benefits.
  • Recruit, interview, select and administer background check on applicants.
  • Provide current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion and employee benefits.
  • Administer conflict resolution, terminate employees, and administer disciplinary procedures.
  • Advise managers and other employees on organizational policy matters such as employee benefits, leave options, harassment, and recommend changes.
  • Participate in new employee orientation to explain and foster positive attitude on organizational objectives and policies.
  • Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts/union agreements (if applicable) and helping resolve work-related issues.
  • Plan, direct, supervise and coordinate work activities of direct reports, if applicable.
  • Maintain records and compile reports concerning personnel-related data such as hires, terminations, FMLA administration, Progressive Disciplinary Warnings and Prevailing Wage report.
  • Participate in conducting investigations and maintaining records.
  • Report Worker's Compensation and Business Auto Incident reports and act as liaison with insurance carrier on inquiries.
  • Represent organization at union grievances (if applicable), unemployment hearings, and court appearances.
  • Administer special projects in areas such as employee awards including Employee of the Month.
  • File salaried employees information.
  • Assist employees with any health insurance issues.
  • Support onboarding of new hires.
  • Consult with Chicago Support Office when necessary to ensure proper procedures are followed.
  • Complete other projects and duties as assigned.
