Job Overview: The Human Resources Intern participates in Macy's 8-week Summer Internship Program in Corporate Human Resources, gaining experience in areas such as HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, Talent and Leadership Development, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The intern gains insight into the strategies and processes involved in managing a large, dynamic workforce. This internship takes place in New York, New York, beginning in June 2025.

Requirements

  • Rising juniors enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program with one year remaining.
  • A GPA of 3.0 or higher is encouraged to apply.
  • All majors considered.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to assess challenges, think critically, and develop effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to take initiative.
  • Ability to work effectively in team environments and build relationships.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks and support key HR initiatives.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt quickly to new challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in professional development through structured, hands-on learning.
  • Build relationships with fellow corporate interns and establish formal and informal mentorships within the department.
  • Contribute to organizational strategies, including succession planning, talent management, executive recruitment, performance coaching, employee engagement, total rewards (compensation and benefits), and leadership development.
  • Support major projects that influence business strategies across the organization.
  • Assist in company-wide initiatives focused on identifying top talent, enhancing employee engagement, and driving talent development.
  • Collaborate in performance-driven teams that foster teamwork and individual growth.
  • Maintain regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
