About The Position

The Human Resources Generalist at Jackson State University is responsible for a variety of HR-related duties, working closely with HR management. This role focuses on employee relations, performance management, policy implementation, and ensuring compliance with employment laws.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of four to five (4-5) years of experience in HR, preferably in a generalist role.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
  • Experience in conducting investigations and handling EEO complaints.
  • Strong knowledge of HR principles, practices, and employment laws.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Assist in resolving employee relations issues, providing guidance and support to employees and management.
  • Serve as Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Officer.
  • Conduct investigations and prepare reports on employee complaints and conflicts.
  • Assist managers and employees with performance improvement plans and development goals.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensure HR policies are communicated to employees and consistently applied across the organization.
  • Stay informed of changes in HR laws and regulations and update policies as needed.
  • Assist with compliance audits and prepare necessary documentation.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all HR information and maintain a secure filing system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
