Job Summary: Caterpillar has an opening for a Human Resources Generalist for the Resource Industries Operations & Products manufacturing facility located in East Peoria, Illinois. The site is home to Caterpillar’s iconic Track-Type Tractor product and has approximately 800 employees in production, support and management roles. As a member of the Human Resources team, you will need to have a growth mindset, promote continuous improvement, and help build a defect-free culture.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Organization: Knowledge of the organization's vision, structure, culture, philosophy, operating principles, values, and code of ethics; ability to understand the value of aligning capabilities with business goals to support optimal performance.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Interpersonal Relationships: Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Data Gathering and Reporting: Knowledge of tools, techniques and processes for gathering and reporting data; ability to practice them in a particular department or division of a company.
  • Employee Relations: Knowledge of the rights and obligations in the employee relations; ability to adhere to legal requirements when handling employee negotiations.
  • HR: Policies, Standards and Procedures: Knowledge of human resource function; ability to uphold the organization's and industry's standards, procedures and policies regarding human resources management.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in a bargained- union environment
  • Proficient in HR and reporting tools (i.e. Workday, Power BI, and Excel).
  • Demonstrates exceptional judgment and creative problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Make recommendations to senior management on issues concerning employees, recruiting, turnover or training.
  • Handle employee relations issues, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing.
  • Support employee walk-up traffic on HR related questions and employee issues
  • Lead production new hire orientation
  • Manage EEO/AA for facility
  • Run and analyze reports for people related data
  • Assist with design, implementation and administration of HR policies
  • Assist with employee engagement activities and events
