Safety, service, and integrity remain at the heart of everything we do. Position Summary Ventura Air Services is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to support a growing, multi-state workforce. This role is ideal for an experienced HR professional who has worked in a small to medium-sized organization during a period of growth and is comfortable owning the full employee lifecycle. The HR Generalist will serve as the primary point of contact for HR-related matters, manage payroll and benefits administration end-to-end, support recruiting and onboarding, and partner with leadership to create, implement, and scale HR policies and programs. While preference is for the role to be hybrid in the Denver area (1–2 days per week in office), strong remote candidates will be considered, particularly those with Paylocity & multi-state experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2+ years of HR experience with a PHR certification, or 5+ years of progressive HR Generalist experience
  • Experience in a traditional HR Generalist role within a small to medium-sized, growing organization
  • End-to-end payroll processing

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary internal contact for initial HR-related questions and concerns
  • Manage employee relations issues, including grievances, investigations, and resolution processes
  • Create, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures to support a growing organization
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Maintain accurate physical and digital employee records, including personnel files, benefits, and attendance documentation
  • Process payroll end-to-end for a multi-state workforce using Paylocity, including audits, reporting, and issue resolution
  • Manage HR and payroll inboxes, responding to employee inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including annual renewals, enrollments, changes, and ongoing support
  • Oversee 401(k) administration and coordinate with vendors and plan administrators
  • Support recruiting efforts, including job postings, candidate screening, and interview coordination
  • Partner with hiring managers to create onboarding plans and ensure a smooth new-hire experience
  • Educate new employees on company policies, procedures, and HR programs
  • Manage offboarding processes, including documentation, benefits transitions, and exit procedures
  • Partner with managers to develop and implement employee performance evaluation methods
  • Create and manage quarterly HR rhythms, including reviews, engagement initiatives, and compliance activities
  • Design and support employee engagement initiatives for in-office, remote, and traveling employees across multiple locations
  • Manage and creatively allocate an employee engagement budget
  • Prepare and distribute internal HR communications to employees
  • Collaborate with external vendors, consultants, and service providers
  • Write, revise, and maintain the employee handbook and supporting HR documentation
