About The Position

The Human Resources Generalist at Southern Oregon University plays a crucial role in developing, implementing, and administering personnel programs in compliance with state and federal regulations. Requirements

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university.
  • Two years of progressively responsible experience in human resources or a similar field.
  • Excellent facilitation skills, including large group facilitation.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering presentations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in human resources management in an educational environment.
  • Successful experience working in higher education, preferably in a collective bargaining environment.
  • Working knowledge of web-based recruiting and onboarding systems.
  • Classification/Compensation experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the recruitment and employment processes from beginning to end.
  • Provide training opportunities to supervisors and employees regarding recruitment and employment processes.
  • Perform comprehensive analysis of position attributes and make final decisions on compensation and employment actions.
  • Post and advertise jobs for equal opportunity and competitive hiring.
  • Administer the electronic new hire paperwork onboarding process.
  • Manage the background check program for employees.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and university policies.
  • Perform data entry of all employment actions to establish personnel records.
  • Participate in updates to HRIS and troubleshoot issues as needed.
  • Administer the annual non-renewable reappointment process.
  • Coordinate the onboarding process for all employees and student employment.
  • Maintain the department's digital filing system and ensure compliance with retention regulations.
  • Organize and facilitate monthly new employee orientation programs.
