About The Position

The Human Resources Generalist role is crucial for providing day-to-day HR support in a mission-driven non-profit organization. This position focuses on ensuring smooth operations and fostering a positive workplace culture, particularly during the busy start of the year. The role is contract-based and is set to begin in January.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience as an HR Generalist or similar role; experience in the non-profit sector is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of HR principles, employment laws, and best practices.
  • Proficiency with HR software and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with specific HRIS preferred.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted advisor to employees and management, addressing concerns and resolving workplace issues professionally and confidentially.
  • Oversee onboarding for new hires, including preparing materials, conducting orientation sessions, and ensuring a seamless transition for new employees.
  • Support benefits enrollment and address employee questions regarding benefit plans and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, organizational policies, and procedures; assist in preparing documentation for audits if required.
  • Collaborate with payroll processing to ensure accurate and timely payment to employees.
  • Assist in updating and enforcing company policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to HR initiatives, including diversity and inclusion efforts, employee engagement strategies, and performance management processes.
