About The Position

The Human Resources Generalist serves as an HR Business Partner to team members and leaders in Grainger's corporate Supply Chain organization. Reporting directly to the Senior Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Generalist supports initiatives such as building talent, engaging team members, leader effectiveness, change projects, enhancing culture and improving performance. The Human Resources Generalist works hybrid, with an expectation to spend 2-3 days per week in a Grainger office. This position is based in Lake Forest, IL, with the flexibility to work from Grainger's Chicago office location in the Mart a percentage of the time if desired.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) or equivalent
  • A degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent progressive experience
  • 5+ years of experience in related field, working knowledge of HR practices
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to draw conclusions and tell a story through data; experience with SAP SuccessFactors and Power BI is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong ability to manage confidential information, influence, think strategically, diagnose and solve problems
  • Ability to prioritize work independently in a rapidly changing environment, manage stakeholder expectations and build trusted relationships
  • Commitment to highest quality of service and continuous improvement

Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of cyclical HR activities such as talent reviews, calibration sessions, annual compensation review processes, engagement surveys and organizational changes
  • Generate standard and ad hoc reporting using various HR systems
  • Collaborate with HR Center of Excellence partners to bring relevant HR information to Supply Chain team members and leaders
  • Implement HR processes, programs and policies that support our talent strategy
  • Coach front line managers to make the right decisions when it comes to people and talent
  • Facilitate people process improvements within the HR function and across the Supply Chain organization
  • Participate in projects across the broader Supply Chain, Operations and Customer Experience HR team
