WQED Multimedia seeks a part-time Human Resources Generalist to perform routine tasks related to: compliance and recordkeeping; compensation, benefits, and leave; training; performance management; conflict resolution and basic investigations; and disciplinary matters. We anticipate a regular schedule of 15-20 hours/week, with compensation between $28.00 and $36.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. Unless the regular schedule increases beyond 24 hours/week, this position is not eligible for health and welfare benefits or paid time off beyond the requirements of the Allegheny County Paid Sick Leave Ordinance and the City of Pittsburgh Paid Sick Days Act. This is a hybrid role that is expected to commute to and contribute from WQED's offices in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh at least one day per week.

  • Serve as a front-line resource for employees and managers alike: explaining and enforcing company policies, promoting available benefits, and helping to resolve conflicts.
  • Collaborate with shared service providers to ensure accurate administration of payroll, benefits and leave management.
  • Manage and maintain confidential employee files records in accordance with company policies.
  • Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Help interview and facilitate the hiring of qualified applicants for open positions.
  • Answer basic employment-related inquiries, escalating complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate resources.
  • Lead new hire orientation programs, onboarding, and offboarding.
  • Acquire background checks, conduct employee eligibility verifications, and obtain compensation analyses.
  • Administer performance review program, ensuring timely completion and appropriate documentation by employees and managers alike.
  • Administer training programs and ensure employees maintain appropriate clearances and certifications for their roles.
  • As time and experience permit, this position could grow to help develop and implement systems, policies, and processes for workforce planning, talent development and employee engagement.
  • At least two years' experience in a Human Resources role.
  • Working familiarity with employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn HR software and related systems.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues and challenges.
