About The Position

The Human Resources Generalist at Turner Construction Company plays a crucial role in supporting various HR functions, including recruiting, employee relations, talent management, and training. This position serves as a liaison between employees and management, ensuring effective communication and implementation of HR policies and programs. The HR Generalist is also responsible for fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace, managing talent acquisition activities, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the HR team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited program in Human Resources or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience in HR or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Professional in Human Resources® (HRCI PHR®) or Society of Human Resources Management Certified Professional (SHRM CP®) certification preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of HR policies, operations, and processes, particularly in employee relations and FMLA compliance.
  • Strong organizational, time management, prioritization, and project management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual, fluent in Spanish.
  • Experience in construction or large organizations (10,000+ employees).
  • Familiarity with Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), preferably SAP.
  • Understanding of continuous improvement methods and tools.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to assigned business units for Human Resources functions including recruiting, employee relations, talent management, training, and benefits.
  • Administer and communicate HR-related programs, policies, and procedures to assigned business unit; provide knowledgeable and timely responses to employee inquiries.
  • Establish a trusting environment to create a safe and neutral setting where employees can openly engage with HR.
  • Connect in-person with employees regularly and advocate for their needs and concerns.
  • Manage Talent Acquisition activities, including sourcing, recruitment, and onboarding of interns and experienced hires.
  • Maintain professional relationships with external agencies for candidate referrals and create candidate pipelines.
  • Review diversity goals and provide feedback on meeting those goals.
  • Organize and implement internship programs and serve as escalation point of contact for interns.
  • Manage immigration and work authorization-related processes for employees.
  • Support activities relating to employee discipline, performance improvement plans, and employee relations counseling.
