About The Position

Directs and ensures the efficient administration and management of the Human Resources function to include recruiting, training, wage/benefit administration, compliance with statutory requirements and the execution of employee relation activities, to provide each department with the personnel, guidance, and support necessary to achieve their customer service and business objectives. The Hotel operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, so operational demands require variations in shift days, starting times, and hours worked in a week.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required; College degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years hotel management experience of Department Head or above.
  • Full-Service Hotel Experience.
  • Proven managerial skill.
  • Ability to deal effectively with all employees and employee representatives.
  • Thorough knowledge of Human Resources practices and procedures.
  • Considerable knowledge of State and Federal laws and regulations pertaining to Human Resources matters.
  • Basic mathematical skills to perform moderately complex calculations.
  • Computer literate in MS Word, Excel, Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and instruct the management staff in effective recruiting and interviewing techniques.
  • Conduct interviews for all management positions.
  • Develop, implement and administer policies and programs related to the management of all hotel personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with all State and Federal laws as well as regulations and court rulings which pertain to Human Resources.
  • Supervise EEOC program.
  • Control the administration of wages and benefits.
  • Review and appraise all personnel changes and paperwork for merit and accuracy.
  • Approve all required Human Resource forms such as Personnel Authorizations and Employment Requisitions.
  • Conduct one on one meetings with Direct Reports to ensure their ongoing development.
  • Maintain open channels of communications for all levels.
  • Responsible for monthly Rallies, Annual Awards/Recognition and other events.
  • Proactively identify and develop talent within the organization.
  • Hire the best people available from inside and outside the hotel.
  • Develop, implement and maintain departmental orientation and training certification programs.
  • Manage employee progressive discipline procedures.
  • Monitor the employee performance appraisal programs.
  • Actively solicit feedback and utilize an 'open door' policy.
  • Celebrate successes and publicly recognize the contributions of team members.
  • Supervise, coordinate and motivate the activities of the department staff.
  • Monitor safety programs and Worker's Compensation Benefits.
  • Maintain all hotel personnel records and Human Resources files.
