This position serves as the recognized resource for the Career Development Unit, responsible for analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating training standards for in-service, law enforcement professional training across the state. In addition, this person will leverage existing, or establish new, professional best practices for training or educating law enforcement officers. These standards and best practices have a statewide effect on active-duty law enforcement officers. The person conducts research and job task analysis, facilitates group work, provides statistical analysis, writes formal validation reports, and constructs instructional strategies and training delivery methods based on adult learning theory and outcome-based training. This position functions in a bias free manner.

  • Analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating training standards for in-service, law enforcement professional training across the state.

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
  • Three years of professional experience in planning, developing, conducting, or evaluating staff development, training, or other programs equivalent to a Human Resources Developer, including one year equivalent to a Human Resources Developer P11.
  • Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement.
  • This position requires passing a pre-employment screening, including passing a drug screen, criminal history background check, and a fingerprint check by the Michigan State Police.
