About The Position

The Human Resources Coordinator will coordinate and administer human resources functions for the Human Resources Department (HRD) of the City of Austin. This role involves managing day-to-day HR activities, including hiring, employee relations, compensation, leave management, and onboarding/offboarding. The coordinator will also assist in HR policy and procedure development and serve as a business partner for HR executives, becoming a subject matter expert in timekeeping and human capital management systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
  • Five years of related HR experience, including one year in a lead/supervisory capacity.
  • Experience in full cycle Human Resources administration including Recruitment, Payroll/Timekeeping, Compensation, Leave Management, Worker's Compensation, and Employee Relations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a governmental agency, municipality, educational institution, or non-profit organization.
  • Experience preparing documentation, HR Policy and Procedure development, and memorandums to executive management.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor compliance with applicable systems, policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Serve as a liaison between HRD and other City departments and external organizations.
  • Lead and participate in HR initiatives and programs with other divisions and cross-functional teams.
  • Prepare and review reports to monitor and communicate performance results.
  • Investigate and respond to complaints from managers and employees.
  • Identify training needs and solutions, and develop best practices.
