About The Position

The Human Resources Confidential Assistant will support the Deputy Director of the Office of Human Resources at the Illinois Department of Public Health. This role involves conducting sensitive HR investigations, providing analysis and reports, and performing administrative duties. The assistant will also verify performance evaluation dates and serve as a liaison for the Deputy Director, ensuring effective communication and collaboration within the department.

Requirements

  • Completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration.
  • One (1) year of professional experience in a public or private organization, or completion of an agency-approved professional management training program.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of Human Resources/Labor Relations work experience.
  • One (1) year of experience conducting studies/investigations of HR-related matters.
  • One (1) year of experience preparing correspondence and reports.
  • One (1) year of experience multitasking and coordinating multiple work activities.
  • One (1) year of experience in Microsoft software products including Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint.
  • One (1) year of experience establishing and maintaining satisfactory working relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Human Resources confidential assistant to the Deputy Director of the Office of Human Resources.
  • Conduct management studies of HR program performance areas to enhance customer service.
  • Verify annual performance evaluation dates and update the system accordingly.
  • Collaborate with IDPH Management on agency directives and guidelines.
  • Perform administrative duties for the Deputy Director, including answering and directing inquiries.
  • Attend and participate in meetings with the Deputy Director or as their representative.
