About The Position

The Illinois Department of Central Management Services (CMS) Bureau of Personnel (BOP) is seeking to hire a Human Resources Assistant Option 2 to serve as a receptionist for the Upward Mobility Program (UMP). The ideal candidate will be someone who can communicate clearly and effectively with our internal and external customers while performing specialized clerical duties related to maintaining program data and generating reports using computer software applications. Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and two years of related clerical experience such as would be acquired at the Office Assistant level, or satisfactory completion of an approved training program.
  • Requires ability to keyboard accurately at 30 words per minute.
  • Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.
  • Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime. This may require the ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
  • Requires ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties.
  • Requires the ability to use agency technology/equipment (i.e., mobile phone, laptop, etc.) properly in accordance with information security awareness policies and confidentiality guideline.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefers one (1) year experience in a fast-paced customer service or telecommunications environment.
  • Prefers working knowledge and experience utilizing computer and common applications software, spreadsheets and completing electronic documents.
  • Prefers one (1) year experience handling confidential information/documents and following guidelines and procedures.
  • Prefers the ability to communicate and explain programming, established policies and procedures.
  • Prefers the ability to gather and compile information and data for reports, correspondence, and presentations utilizing multiple sources and ensuring accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Under direction of the Upward Mobility Program Manager, provides general clerical support for Upward Mobility Program (UMP) staff.
  • Performs specialized clerical duties for the Upward Mobility Program (UMP).
  • Serves as an initial representative of the program to employees interested in enrolling in Upward Mobility.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned projects that are within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
