The Human Resources Assistant Manager (Labor Relations) plays a crucial role in overseeing labor relations and employee relations activities within Broward County's Human Resources Division. This position involves supervising day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and managing complex employment issues, collective bargaining, and grievance procedures. The incumbent will work closely with the Human Resources Manager and other management to foster a culture of engagement and performance excellence across the county's workforce.

  • Supervise and monitor the County's progressive disciplinary and grievance procedures.
  • Represent the County in collective bargaining activities with employee union representatives.
  • Assist management in resolving complex employment issues, including progressive disciplinary actions and leaves of absence.
  • Participate in outreach initiatives through training programs and consultation sessions with management and employees.
  • Act as a liaison between County agencies and the County Attorney's Office for legal reviews of employment cases.
  • Make policy recommendations and provide guidance in the application of labor agreements and employment laws.
  • Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, human resources, or a closely related field.
  • Four years of experience in human resources administrative work, specifically in labor relations, including one year of lead work experience.
  • Valid class E Florida Driver's License.
  • Master's Degree or higher in a related field.
  • Juris Doctor (Employment Law).
  • HRCI-SPHR, IPMA-SCP, SHRM-SCP certifications.
  • Experience in Public Sector Employment/Labor Relations.
  • Prior PeopleSoft HCM experience.
