About The Position

This position functions as Human Resources Assistant (Employee Relations/Employee Benefits) for the VISN 22 Consolidated Human Resources (HR) - Phoenix Strategic Business Unit (SBU), providing Network-wide Human Resource support work in the VISN Shared service Unit (SSU) that entails processing personnel actions, and ensures related Worklife Benefits, Leave Administration and Reasonable Accommodation functions are completed.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • You may be required to serve a probationary period.
  • Subject to background/security investigation.
  • Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
  • Participation in the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination program is a requirement for all Veterans Health Administration Health Care Personnel (HCP).

Responsibilities

  • Daily monitoring of personnel information systems for actions related to the duties of the section, follows up with employee or service as appropriate for any missing information.
  • Reviews requests for completeness and accuracy to determine nature of action indicated on request for personnel action.
  • Determines employees' benefits eligibility for life and health insurance, leave group, federal retirement vs. social security.
  • Follows up with the Technical Reviewer or HR Specialist on requests for corrections and/or DFAS remedy.
  • Provides technical guidance, information, and assistance for the Reasonable Accommodation program.
  • Provides support to current staff and prospective staff responsible for starting, stopping or changing employee benefits upon request.
  • Provides administrative support by responding to questions, complaints, problems or situations, and providing explanations of HR policy in WLB/RA.
  • Assists the Specialist with the preparation of Reasonable Accommodation offers and Equal Employment Opportunity document requests and hearing files.
  • Maintains and presents up-to-date benefits information for including FEHB, FEGLI, TSP, Leave Programs and retirement.
  • Prepares and maintains records on all actions associated with Reasonable Accommodation.
  • Provides advice on using TSP and My-Pay websites.
