About The Position
The Human Resources Assistant at Kern Community College District plays a vital role in supporting the personnel functions of the college. Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, the assistant will perform a variety of responsible personnel and clerical duties related to recruitment, examination, placement, and maintenance of personnel records and files. This position also involves the preparation of related reports and providing information and assistance to college personnel, staff, and the public regarding various personnel matters. The role is essential in ensuring that the college's human resources operations run smoothly and efficiently. The responsibilities of the Human Resources Assistant include receiving and processing information for personnel requisitions, preparing and distributing job announcements, and placing advertisements in local and regional newspapers. The assistant will also prepare, type, update, and maintain various forms, reports, bulletins, records, and files according to established procedures. This includes verifying and posting information to ensure completeness and accuracy. Additionally, the assistant will handle job applications, transcripts, and other related information, screening for completeness and referring to the appropriate department for the selection process. Another key aspect of this role is processing workers' compensation claims for district office employees, coordinating services with claims representatives, and monitoring employee utilization of leave benefits. The assistant will also conduct new employee orientations, explaining district policies and benefits, and assist with the completion of enrollment forms. Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information is crucial, as is attending meetings and participating in assigned committees as directed. Overall, the Human Resources Assistant is a critical support role that contributes to the effective management of human resources within the college district.
