About The Position

The Human Resources Analyst – Employee Relations provides hands-on and strategic support to the Judicial Branch within the Employee Relations function. This position serves as an advisor to managers on a wide range of workplace issues, including leave management, performance management, and disciplinary matters. The position requires sound judgment to assess risk, interpret policy, and recommend appropriate courses of action, while promoting consistency, fairness, and compliance. This role proactively supports leaders in addressing employee relations issues from initial consultation through resolution, contributing to effective workforce management and positive workplace outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a closely related field
  • Two (2) years of professional level human resources experience in either or both: 1) Employee Relations which includes: intake and handling of employee complaints and/or workplace concerns, conducting workplace investigations (fact-finding, interviews, documentation, summaries/reports), advising/counseling managers and employees on employee relations issues, administering discipline and grievance/appeal processes in accordance with policy and practice, and responding to EEOC charges. 2) Leave Management which includes: managing FMLA and ADA cases advising employees on leave related matters OR Combined education and experience qualifications: An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and Human Resources professional experience as outlined above may substitute for the minimum requirements on a year-for-year basis Paraprofessional HR experience as outlined above may substitute for professional experience on a two for one basis (i.e. two years of paraprofessional experience substitutes for one year of professional experience)
  • Knowledge of: Principles and practices in human resources management and administration including research and data analysis methods and techniques Pertinent Federal and State laws, codes and regulations, specifically those focusing on FMLA and ADA Principles and processes for providing customer service
  • Skill in: Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems that comply with applicable laws, regulations and policies Problem solving and decision making Computers and related software applications Organizing, prioritizing and performing multiple tasks Both verbal and written communications Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
  • Ability to: Learn and apply Judicial Branch policies and procedures Provide expertise related to the application of human resources theories and principles Evaluate information to determine compliance with standards Pay close attention to detail and thoroughly review work products

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates, assesses, and processes paperwork related to FMLA, non-FMLA medical leave, ADA accommodation and return to work requests to determine compliance with federal and state laws, and Judicial Branch policies
  • Advises and consults on leave related issues
  • Interprets and explains human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards and regulations
  • Works with Department Heads/Managers on human resources issues based on the rules and regulations related to Americans with Disabilities Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, Family Medical Leave Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as amended, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and other employment-related laws and statutes
  • Works with Department Head/Managers and employees to correct performance issues
  • Monitors, recommends, and reviews disciplinary and termination actions to ensure compliance with applicable laws, and Judicial Branch rules and policies
  • Investigates and responds to employment related claims and grievances, conducts and manages employment related investigations, effectively documents findings, and makes recommendations regarding a course of action
  • Creates and presents training on FMLA, ADA, disability management or other applicable topics for employees and supervisors within the Judicial Branch
  • Researches and responds to EEO charges
