About The Position

The Human Resource Generalist at NCSA coordinates a variety of HR activities and provides support for complex HR challenges, escalating issues when necessary to ensure effective resolutions. This position allows for remote work, but it is not fully remote by nature. The person in this role must be located close enough to campus to be available on short notice and within a reasonable timeframe when needed. This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Administration, Management, Organizational Administration, Public Administration, Labor Relations, Business Administration or a field closely related to the position
  • Two (2) years (24 months) of work experience performing professional-level human resources duties
  • Experience providing human resources support and/or coordination at a public university

Responsibilities

  • Oversee searches, hiring, and onboarding for student, hourly, and full-time positions
  • Ensure recruitment efforts align with best practices and compliance
  • Advise hiring managers and search committees on processes
  • Communicate with applicants and new hires, facilitating interviews and onboarding
  • Develop and post job descriptions
  • Represent NCSA at collegiate job fairs and recruiting events
  • Interpret and apply policies and processes related to visa processing
  • Collaborate with the International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) office, faculty, business units, and foreign nationals throughout the process
  • Communicate visa and foreign national policies and processes to faculty and staff within the unit
  • Process payroll, timesheets, and pay adjustments, including unique payments
  • Advise on salary decisions and temporary/additional pay justifications
  • Manage FMLA, PLFA, and other leave programs, ensuring compliance, counseling employees, and resolving leave-related issues
  • Conduct job evaluations, advise on job descriptions, promotions, and title changes, ensuring alignment with organizational needs
  • Ensure adherence to HR policies and legal requirements through training, tracking, and internal reviews
  • Address compliance concerns and support DEI initiatives
  • Process employee transactions, troubleshoot issues, enter and validate HR data, generate reports, and participate in system testing
