About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven People and Culture business partner to align our HR initiatives and functions with business objectives and business needs. The Human Resource Business Partner is responsible for the successful integration and alignment of employees to business objectives, enhancing employee performance, supporting employee development, enhancing recruitment efforts, planning strategic People & Culture (P&C) initiatives, maintaining employee relations, implementing policies and practices, and overseeing wellness and health initiatives. Your experience in human resources management will aid our organization in adding value to overall business objectives, providing HR solutions, resolving personnel grievances, retaining a talented workforce, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Under the direction of the Director of People and Culture, this individual manages and directs the employee and labor relations program for the client site(s). Program activities include contract administration and interpretation and guidance/coordination of related management activities consistent with company. The Labor Relations People & Culture Business Partner serves as a key contributor to development and maintenance of comprehensive Human Resources policies and strategies; manages administration of labor contracts; provides interpretation of labor contracts to managers, and employee; oversees processes for review and resolution of employee grievances. This role advises managers and employees on sensitive labor and employee relations matters, including grievance and arbitration procedures, performance issues and disciplinary actions; advises and assists managers in identifying employee relations issues and determining appropriate course of action. Facilitates on-going communication and working relationships with employee representative organizations including coordination of joint labor-management committees.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years Human Resource experience in support of multiple locations; 2+ years of experience in a union environment
  • 3+ years of experience supporting hospitality, restaurant, food service, casinos, stadiums, arenas, and/or retail environments is ideal
  • Experience with coaching management
  • Strong employee relations experience
  • Experience in employee training or Learning and Development required
  • Experience with unionized workforce and labor relations preferred
  • Strong knowledge of employment law(s), California experience required
  • HR Certification such as PHR/SPHR (PHR-CA/SPHR-CA) preferred, GPHR a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Management or another related field required
  • Experience at interfacing at all levels throughout a matrixed or international organization
  • Experience driving results in multiple countries/internationally
  • Demonstrable global and cultural effectiveness
  • PC literate – understanding of how to use the technology as a tool
  • Ability to communicate with all levels within a client’s management structure
  • Good team player and manager
  • Able to command credibility and be able to influence across cultures and varied levels of an organization
  • Willing to travel up to 33%
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Ensure implementation, standardization and utilization of policies, procedures, programs dealing with the specific activities of staffing, employee relations, onboarding, and business systems
  • Plan, organize, direct, control or coordinate the personnel, recognition, and training activities of the account organization and partner with the ISS/Guckenheimer People and Culture team to ensure consistency
  • Support the People and Culture Lead to plan, organize, direct, control or coordinate the labor relations activities
  • Support the People and Culture Shared Service team in advising managers and recommending changes regarding organizational policy matters such as equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment and in ensuring compliance with same; ensure compliance with local policies, laws, and regulations
  • In partnership with the People and Culture Shared Service team, serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting, and administering contracts, and helping resolve work-related problems
  • In partnership with the Talent Acquisition Team, perform difficult staffing duties including recruitment of top talent, dealing with understaffing, refereeing disputes, terminating employees, and administering disciplinary procedures
  • Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives
  • Assist managers, and account leadership in identifying staff vacancies and to recruit, interview and select applicants
  • Represent organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations when the People and Culture Lead is unavailable
  • Administer performance management systems, training initiatives, recreation programs and partner with the ISS/Guckenheimer People and Culture team in accordance with systems in use by ISS/Guckenheimer in North America
  • Support central teams with administering compensation, benefits, and safety systems to ensure administration in accordance with to local policies, laws, and regulations
  • Assess and anticipate HR related needs while proactively communicating needs and developing integrate solutions across the Americas region
  • Effectively communicate across all levels of the organization and all countries in which the account is present
