Morrison Center is seeking an HR Assistant to be based Onsite in Westbrook Maine. T he HR Assistant supports core HR functions including recruitment coordination, onboarding and offboarding, employee records, benefits administration, and compliance. This role serves as a point of contact for employee inquiries, manages confidential information with discretion, and contributes to a positive workplace culture in a fast-paced environment. Requirements of the HR Assistant: Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred: equivalent work experience considered. Basic knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally. Experience with HRIS and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). 1–2 years of HR or administrative experience, preferably supporting recruiting, onboarding, benefits, and workers’ compensation. Benefits of the Job: Earned Paid leave 403b Retirement Responsibilities of the HR Assistant: Manage full-cycle recruiting, including job postings, candidate sourcing and screening, interview coordination, reference checks, and offer/onboarding requirements. Coordinate and facilitate onboarding activities, including new hire paperwork, background checks, while keeping it a positive experience. Oversee annual, biannual and other reoccurring background checks as necessary, including BMV, CPS, APS, Maine Background Check Center, etc. Support benefits administration, including open enrollment, benefit changes, employee inquiries, vendor coordination, and accurate recordkeeping. Manage workers’ compensation processes with CHRO oversight, including incident documentation, claim filing and tracking, coordination with carriers and medical providers, and stakeholder communication. Maintain accurate, confidential employee records in HRIS and electronic personnel files in compliance with company policies and applicable laws. Support policy communication and employee relations by distributing updates, tracking acknowledgments, responding to employee questions, and reinforcing workplace guidelines. Prepare HR reports and metrics to support compliance, audits, and management decision-making. Provide general administrative support to the HR team, including data entry, document preparation, scheduling, and special projects.
