We are currently seeking a Human Factors Scientist for our Human Factors Practice in Bellevue, WA. In this role, you will work as part of a team to address human factors, safety management, risk communication, and risk perception issues in a variety of contexts that span occupational, consumer, and community settings, such as those involving consumer products, electronics, manufacturing, oil and gas production, healthcare, aviation, chemical products, environmental exposures, and more. Activities in these contexts will focus on a combination of analyzing accidents and injuries that have occurred in the past and managing safety risk to help prevent such incidents in the future. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Human Factors, Cognitive or Experimental Psychology, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • Currently based in or are willing to relocate to the Bellevue, WA area
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Assertive self-starter who is able to accurately and flexibly work under deadlines
  • Demonstrated mathematical aptitude
  • Desire to expand present knowledge, especially as related to various industries and applied contexts
  • Ability to use basic scientific research to understand and solve applied problems

Responsibilities

  • Managing a range of consulting activities that involve human factors issues, such as limitations of human perceptual, cognitive, and response capabilities
  • Developing client contacts
  • Working on multi-disciplinary projects and conducting a variety of analyses
  • Providing case management, information processing, and other project support
  • Conducting research to obtain and review technical data, scientific literature, regulations, and standards
  • Assisting with the design and evaluation of safety management practices and safety information
