The HUB Registered Nurse (HUB RN) is responsible for overseeing clinical operations within the Urgent Care (UC) setting, providing direct patient care, and collaborating with the healthcare team to deliver high-quality, efficient services. This role involves triaging patients, assisting providers with procedures, and ensuring that safety, regulatory, and clinical standards are consistently met. Additionally, the HUB RN is responsible for supporting Primary Care (PCP) operations when UC volume is low or additional staffing is needed, ensuring smooth patient flow and operational continuity.

  • Perform patient triage upon arrival, assess acuity levels, and ensure timely provider evaluation.
  • Administer direct patient care, including but not limited to: medication administration, wound care, IV therapy, EKGs, nebulizer treatments, and other nursing interventions within the RN scope of practice.
  • Assist providers with minor procedures (e.g., incision and drainage, splinting, wound care) as appropriate.
  • Ensure all clinical documentation is complete, accurate, and timely in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Monitor and manage urgent care equipment, supplies, and medication inventory.
  • Maintain strict adherence to infection control, OSHA, HIPAA, and urgent care protocols.
  • Foster efficient patient flow, minimizing wait times while delivering a high-quality urgent care experience.
  • Conduct safety rounds, hand hygiene audits, and quality control checks on a regular schedule.
  • Perform chart audits to ensure compliance with documentation standards, coding accuracy, and clinical best practices.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Charge Nurse on the implementation of quality improvement initiatives and staff training programs.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with protocols related to sepsis screening, triage accuracy, and emergency response.
  • Participate in performance meetings, providing insights into workflow improvements, patient care enhancement, and process optimization.
  • Assist with administrative duties and patient care when UC volume is low.
  • Perform vital signs checks, medication administration, vaccinations, and diagnostic testing for PCP patients.
  • Conduct chart audits and follow-up calls as necessary, assisting with patient continuity and care coordination.
  • Ensure smooth collaboration between the urgent care and primary care teams to maximize patient flow and resource utilization.
  • Ensure all patients are triaged appropriately and continuously monitored for potential deterioration or the need for emergency escalation.
  • Enforce hand hygiene, PPE usage, and infection control standards across all interactions.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness drills, mock codes, and other safety training initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with providers, MAs, and administrative staff to maintain operational flow and address any concerns.
  • Assist with scheduling, training, and mentoring of nursing staff and MAs, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Attend regular meetings to discuss operational improvements, safety initiatives, and workflow efficiency.
  • Serve as a resource and leader for both UC and PCP teams, encouraging teamwork and ensuring high-quality care delivery.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of nursing experience.
  • Current, active RN license (state-specific as required).
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification, with the ability to maintain up-to-date credentials.
  • Proficiency in patient triage, urgent care procedures, and clinical assessments.
  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement standards.
  • Excellent communication, multitasking, and critical thinking abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to handle fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
  • Depending on the urgent care center’s hours of operation, the HUB RN may need to work evenings, weekends, or holidays. This can sometimes result in irregular work hours.
  • English: Advanced
  • Must be able to travel to multiple locations for work (i.e. travel to attend meetings, events, conferences).
  • Experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, or ambulatory care settings is preferred.
  • Experience in primary care or outpatient settings is a plus.
