About The Position

The HUB Operations Manager oversees the daily operations of the Middle Mile Network HUB location assigned. This role is critical in ensuring efficient and timely processing of shipments, maintaining high standards of customer service and managing the workforce within the assigned HUB. The HUB Operations Manager will serve as the operational leader, providing direct management of HUB Operations Supervisors and indirect management of other assigned personnel within the Middle Mile Network HUB location to ensure shipment flow through the AIT Middle Mile Network. The HUB Operations Manager is responsible to ensure the on-time-performance, load quality and utilization is best-in-class.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (required) and
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience (preferred)
  • 5+ years Transportation and Logistics Background with an emphasis in expedited LTL operations (required) and
  • 3+ years Supervisory or Managerial Experience with an emphasis in expedited LTL operations (required)
  • Leadership Skills - Able to manage in a diverse cultural, fast paced environment. High
  • Manage Hub Operations customer service and operational personnel. Mentoring of staff, conduct regular performance reviews and general overall personnel development. High
  • Be able to act in lieu of the HUB Manager for business execution and corrective actions to include employee performance correction, and evaluation. High
  • Perform all aspects of HUB operations including customer service, dispatch and freight routing. Medium
  • Ability to organize and perform multiple assignments in high-volume, fast-work environment. High
  • Forklift Certification - Occassional use of forklift will be required Upon Hire (required) and
  • HAZMAT Certification - Dangerous Goods Handling Upon Hire (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Manage Hub Operations Supervisors (direct), customer service and operational personnel (indirect). Mentor, lead and direct operational staff, conduct regular performance reviews and general overall personnel development. Responsibility for recruitment, retention, coaching on performance, job assignments, training and development of station customer service and operational staff.
  • Hub Operations - Research, plan, propose, coordinate, and implement routing adjustments. Make sure cut off times are correct, and routes run properly. Lead and manage all HUB operation functions while on duty to ensure that all departments and staff execute service agreements and agreed terms of service
  • Manage staff scheduling to maximize productivity and minimize expenses. Ensures workforce is active and productive, making all decisions regarding overtime, reduction in hours during the assigned shift.
  • Collect and process data daily to ensure productivity goals, procedure and other required KPIs are met. Responsible for monitoring and tracking KPIs. Ensure safe working environment through consistent practice of safety programs and procedures
  • Through collaboration with the assigned HUB Manager, provide communication regarding current status of HUB Operations in regard to performance and expectations. Utilize superior communication skills to motivate staff and develop effective working relationships with peers, executives, and clients. Ensure directives, rules, and procedures are communicated to all station personnel.
  • Ensures activities on dock are being executed as planned while simultaneously supporting Hub Operations Supervisors, Hub Operations Agents, Warehouse Leads and Forklift Operators with their duties
  • Provides input for scheduling updates regarding staffing and booking of additional linehauls to service freight to be reviewed and acted upon by HUB Manager and other senior leadership within the Middle Mile Network.
  • Collects information regarding activity prior to shift, during shift and proactively align and present the information to the Hub Manager to ensure proper execution of all assigned duties to all personnel.
  • Occasional use of forklift to load/unload freight (as needed to ensure execution of the HUB operation)
  • Performs other duties as assigned
