Kalitta Charters II specializes in scheduled and on-demand narrow-body freighter operations. In 2003, aviator and NHRA World Champion, Doug Kalitta, set out to provide a safe and reliable solution to a complex logistics problem. This problem entailed moving freight across the Americas for our customers… overnight! The HUB (CVG) Maintenance Manager reports directly to the Director of Maintenance and provides strategic and operational leadership for all aircraft maintenance activities at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) hub. This role ensures maintenance operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with FAA regulations and company standards. As a key leader within airline operations, the Maintenance Manager is accountable for developing high-performing teams, driving operational reliability, and fostering a culture of safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid, unrestricted driver’s license
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate
  • 5 Years of Line Maintenance experience with similar type aircraft preferred
  • Prior airline maintenance leadership experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate maintenance personnel to build a cohesive, high-performing team focused on safety, quality, and operational excellence.
  • Set clear expectations, model professional behavior, and ensure accountability at all levels.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and development opportunities to support technician growth and long-term career progression.
  • Promote a positive and respectful working environment that supports teamwork, communication, and a shared commitment to company values.
  • Take a proactive role in hiring, onboarding, and retention initiatives to maintain a strong and stable workforce.
  • Direct day-to-day maintenance operations to support aircraft turn times, dispatch reliability, and on-time performance targets.
  • Maintain consistent communication with Maintenance Control, Flight Operations, and senior leadership to ensure aircraft readiness and resolve operational issues promptly.
  • Demonstrate strong decision-making skills under pressure, prioritizing safety while supporting operational timelines.
  • Champion a safety-first culture by ensuring full compliance with FAA regulations, OSHA standards, SMS practices, and company safety programs.
  • Lead by example in promoting hazard awareness, proactive risk mitigation, and proper use of PPE and safety procedures.
  • Address safety concerns immediately and reinforce safe behaviors across all shifts.
  • Direct staffing, shift planning, and manpower allocation to match operational demand and ensure timely maintenance support.
  • Ensure all required tooling, equipment, and publications are available, properly maintained, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Enforce proper use of technical data and documentation procedures, coaching staff when corrective action is needed.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching, and take appropriate corrective action when required.
  • Hold personnel accountable for meeting quality standards, productivity expectations, and company behavioral guidelines.
  • Review all maintenance documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with FAA and company requirements.
  • Support internal audits, regulatory inspections, and corrective action initiatives.
  • Ensure technicians maintain currency with training, qualifications, and required certifications.
  • Analyze operational delays, maintenance trends, and reliability data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Implement process changes that reduce maintenance-driven delays and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with leadership and other departments to drive long-term improvements to procedures, workflow, and station performance.
