About The Position

The Hub and Die Maker designs, builds, modifies, and repairs hubs and dies used in metal forming and manufacturing processes. This role requires advanced machining skills, precision workmanship, and the ability to interpret complex blueprints and specifications to produce high-quality tooling. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Proven experience as a Hub and Die Maker or Tool & Die Maker
  • Strong knowledge of metal forming processes and tooling design
  • Ability to read complex blueprints and technical drawings
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Lift and move tooling and materials up to 25 lbs.
  • Fine motor skills and manual dexterity

Responsibilities

  • Design, fabricate, and repair hubs, dies, punches, and related tooling
  • Set up and operate manual machines (lathes, mills, and grinders)
  • Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical specifications
  • Select appropriate materials and machining processes for tooling
  • Perform heat treating, polishing, fitting, and finishing operations
  • Measure and inspect tooling using precision instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
  • Troubleshoot tooling issues and make adjustments to improve performance and longevity
  • Maintain tight tolerances and high-quality standards
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area
