Ocean Infinity is seeking a HSEQ Site Advisor for our facility in Vancouver. The Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality Site Advisor role at the Burnaby site will serve as the primary point of contact for HSEQ matters ensuring production safety protocols are being followed. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with national and international regulations, supporting health, safety and environmental initiatives, and promoting a culture of safety excellence among employees and contractors. The position reports directly to the Global Health & Safety Site Officer in the UK, working collaboratively to maintain high safety standards across the facility.

Requirements

  • HSEQ experience in engineering or warehousing is preferred, but applicants with other relevant skills are welcome.
  • Transferable expertise is valued.
  • Candidates with certifications like BCRSP, IOSH, ASQ, CQI, or equivalent.
  • Other health, safety, environmental, or quality credentials, plus internal auditor training, show best practice commitment.
  • A strong grasp of ISO management systems is needed, and internal auditor experience is a plus.
  • The role requires compliance assessment and maintaining high HSEQ standards.
  • The ideal candidate balances productivity with compliance.
  • Safe work practices and adherence to regulations are essential.
  • Quick, confident decision-making is critical, including escalating issues as needed.
  • Managing risks protects all site personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Promote accident and injury prevention by continually improving workplace safety across all sites.
  • Investigate and assess health and safety complaints, addressing related issues promptly.
  • Facilitate health and safety induction training for new staff, working closely with the Training Manager to instil a positive safety culture.
  • Conduct internal and assist with external Health and Safety meetings, providing resources to reduce risks and prevent breaches.
  • Adhere to and promote Ocean Infinity’s global policies and procedures as outlined in the integrated management system.
  • Supports Ocean Infinity’s HSEQ Goals and actively promotes them across the team.
  • Contribute to the improvement of the integrated management system by reporting incidents, attending meetings, and recommending enhancements.
  • Report unidentified risks or hazards using appropriate channels and ensure effective communication of policies to all employees, visitors, and contractors.
