About The Position

The Oxnard site is looking for a Site HSE Lead that is capable of leading the Safety Program for an Industrial Construction/Maintenance group of 20-50 employees. The purpose of this position is to supervise Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) professionals to create and sustain a productive work culture and safe work environment in order to avoid and minimize HSE related problems. These problems include but are not limited to prevention of human injury, environmental degradation and unsafe working conditions/practices. This is done through health, safety and environmental training, programs, and processes with a visible and uncompromised commitment to the protection of the environment as well as the productivity of the Company's employees.

Requirements

  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and four (4) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to eight (8) years if non-degreed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines.
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
  • A minimum of four years of HSE related experience.

  • A valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and train subordinates assigned to her/his area on HSE activities on Total Installed Cost (TIC) of medium to large-scale projects.
  • Prepare certification/classification programs and supporting HSE documents, and implement project specific HSE initiatives.
  • Apply regulatory requirements to provide guidance and recommendations to project management.
  • Participate in monitoring and controlling HSE standards, applicable laws and regulations.
  • Design and review project plans or schematics to confirm compliance with governmental regulations and Company/client requirements.
  • Plan, conduct and document work requiring independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation/modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Promote and foster Company HSE standards and goals with programs throughout the Company and/or project.
  • Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity.
  • Adhere to and support Fluor's Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies.
  • Continue education and knowledge of industry-wide HSE-related information and technologies as well as new regulations and trends.
  • Serve as a Company representative to external HSE organizations.
