About The Position

The HSE Specialist/WSER III position at ConocoPhillips involves performing various Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) related tasks with minimal supervision. The role is integral to the asset team, focusing on ensuring compliance with HSE Management Systems and promoting safety within the organization. The specialist will act as a trusted advisor, providing safety leadership and supporting incident reporting and investigations, while also participating in audits and emergency response protocols.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
  • Current/valid driver's license.
  • 3 or more years of upstream Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) experience.
  • 3 or more years of experience with HSE and Operations Management Systems.
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS O365 applications: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Intermediate knowledge of data management systems, such as Intelex.
  • Ability to work in temperature extremes and adverse weather conditions, and in various geographic locations.
  • Willingness to work a 14 days on/14 days off rotational schedule.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Safety, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.
  • ASP, CSP, CIH or other relevant certifications.
  • 7 or more years of experience in the upstream energy industry.
  • Strong networking and collaboration skills across workgroups.
  • Active listening and ability to influence positive performance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safety leadership to the Permian Well Intervention and Integrity organization, ensuring compliance with Agency requirements and ConocoPhillips policies.
  • Support accurate and timely reporting of incidents and near misses, including leading and lagging data.
  • Ensure HSE excellence through training, behavior-based programs, and site inspections.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the HSE Management System.
  • Partner with internal groups to advise the workforce on emerging trends in leading indicators.
  • Participate in and lead incident investigations, preparing findings for management review.
  • Act as a subject matter authority during field activities, ensuring compliance with procedures and promoting program implementation.
  • Support emergency response protocols and roles during initial emergency responses.
  • Participate in HSE&R auditing and support external and internal audits.
  • Assist in on-the-job safety meetings to enhance effectiveness.
