We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Project Manager on our Health, Science, & Ethics team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 2 days a week in the office. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing projects, research engagements, and product pilots and launches for activities related to the AMA’s CDC National Partner Co-operative Agreement focusing on improving brain health and pain care. Projects are aimed at ensuring training and other resources are available to health care professionals. This role supports the AMA’s project team, which spans multiple business units, in managing all components of the project work plan.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in public health, health administration, or other related field, a CAPM® or Project Management Certificate strongly preferred.
• Minimum 5+ years post-degree experience in a health-related field with responsibilities for project planning, budgeting, management, and evaluation required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the project management process, planning, execution, and evaluation; ability to effectively manage time, prioritize work, multi-task across many assignments, and resolve project issues through collaboration.
• Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills to interact with technical and business audiences at all levels, at internal and stakeholder organizations.
• Must possess excellent written communication skills, including the ability to convey complex ideas in writing, proven ability to produce clear written reports, and deliver effective presentations.
• Experience with grants management, federal reporting requirements, policy research skills preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently function effectively as a team member.
• Ability to interface effectively with people of varying disciplines, background, and expertise, including senior-level management.
• Proven ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects in a deadline-driven environment.
• Some travel required.

Responsibilities

• Provide project management for the development and execution of projects funded through the AMA’s co-operative agreement with the CDC, which is focused on developing and disseminating training and education for clinicians in the areas of improving pain care and improving brain health and dementia risk reduction.
• Manage multiple medium complexity projects simultaneously, creating and maintaining project plans, updating status reports, and tracking and resolving issues.
• Maintain project plans, status, and issues report; collaborate with project team to resolve issues, ensuring visibility, determining root cause, and facilitating solutions, driving to timely resolution.
• Ensure development and related project work is completed on time, within budget, and meets quality standards.
• Ensure work is distributed effectively to project team, clarifying any questions on objectives.
• Assist with business and technical requirements gathering and developing/monitoring contracts.
• Collaborate with content partners to ensure materials are available and manage expectations for product and content launch and availability.
• Support other projects and activities as needed, including but not limited to conducting reviews of relevant scientific literature, reviewing existing AMA policies, and presenting results of the project to internal and external audiences.
• Support the identification and development of additional funding sources including assisting and preparing grant applications, evaluating project impact, and recommending modifications to stakeholders.
• Establish and maintain relationships with relevant AMA business units and external stakeholders.
• Provide organizational and logistical support for multi-stakeholder meetings; ensure regular communication with collaborators.
• Develop and recommend project plans to stakeholders and secure their support.
• Evaluate stakeholder satisfaction through proactive communication and formal follow-up.
• Help to ensure work is integrated into the overall Health & Science and AMA strategy.
• May include other responsibilities as assigned.
