About The Position

The HSE Manager is responsible for assisting in the overall supervision and administration of safety for Business Unit projects to maintain a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. Managing project safety efforts to prevent accidents and injuries while communicating details of safety conditions to the HSE Director and various levels of Business Unit supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related technical field.
  • 7 years of previous construction experience.
  • 1 year of previous experience as on-site safety person.
  • OSHA Outreach Trainer.
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED Trainer.
  • Working knowledge of government regulations, hazard control methods, and industrial hygiene.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct training and influence organizational behavior.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Versed in the industry and the Company's competitors.
  • Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary point of contact for HSE related policies/practices within assigned region and project sites
  • Oversee regional HSE professionals and provide consistent leadership, direction, and motivation in line with company HSE strategy and vision
  • Provide HSE subject matter leadership and direction to project leaders (i.e. Superintendent, Forman, etc.) to drive consistent implementation of HSE policies and practices
  • Periodically conduct project site assessments to assess effectiveness of HSE policy and practices implementation, assess employee behaviors, document findings, propose corrective actions, and communicate results to stakeholders
  • Ensure incident investigations are conducted thoroughly, cause/preventative actions are effectively identified and communicated to prevent recurrence, and documentation is accurate and complete
  • Solicit and react urgently to HSE concerns surfaced by employees and project leadership
  • Oversee regional HSE communications and ensure effective communication/delivery
  • Ensure thorough documentation of HSE training, orientation, assessments, investigations, etc.
  • Periodically develop and conduct project site employee and project leader HSE orientation and policy training
  • Serve/participate as Company representative with HSE related regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, EPA, fire department, etc.)Maintain effective working knowledge of OSHA CFR-29 1926 Construction, 1910 General Industry, and ANSI standards
  • Ensure effective implementation of Company drug/alcohol testing procedures in coordination with Company stakeholders (i.e. Project leaders, Human Resources, etc.)
