About The Position

As the HSE Manager , your Health, Safety, and Environmental expertise will guide the management team on HSE best practices and culture, train employees on safety policies and practices, conduct regular inspections, generate health and safety assessment reports, and ensure that all occupational guidelines and regulations are followed. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, safety management, or similar.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP or ARM
  • 4–6 years of experience in occupational safety, health management, or related field.
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant regulations such as OSHA, EPA, and ANSI.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety data sheets.
  • Proficient in computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Leadership and training abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to work cross-functionally and at all levels.
  • Acute attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Organizational and time management skills

Responsibilities

  • Partner with leadership to set HSE goals, align on improvement strategies, and promote a positive, accountable safety culture
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of HSE programs and site safety procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, ANSI, and applicable state/local regulations; serve as primary liaison during inspections.
  • Conduct routine safety audits/inspections; verify proper use of PPE and effectiveness of machine/process guarding.
  • Develop and deliver safety training: new‑hire orientation, refresher courses, emergency response, and equipment certifications (e.g., forklift).
  • Drive incident prevention: lead investigations of incidents and near‑misses, perform root‑cause analysis, and verify corrective/preventive actions.
  • Maintain required records and reporting, including OSHA 300/300A/301 logs, hazard assessments, JSAs, and compliance filings.
  • Facilitate the Safety Committee; analyze trends (e.g., recordables, lost‑time, severity rates) and report KPIs to leadership.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and managers to integrate safety into daily operations and capital/engineering changes (MOC).
  • Manage contractor safety onboarding and oversight in accordance with company standards.
  • Support workers' compensation case management and return‑to‑work coordination as needed.
  • Must be comfortable with travel between Chicago and Morristown locations on a continuous basis.
